The President of the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt granted me a teaching assignment for regional data journalism on behalf of the university’s Faculty of Linguistics and Literature. On 12 and 13 May 2016, I will hold a workshop in Eichstätt with students enrolled in the university’s journalism programme. The core topic of the workshop will be the implementation of data journalism in a regional and local context. Public national databases and open data portals promise new possibilities in this area, providing data with local relevance which can be used as a starting point for interesting data stories. The Eichstätt journalism programme is one of the best-known journalism degree programmes in Germany.
